The Picker position at Baldor Specialty Foods is a critical role responsible for the efficient movement, selection, and loading of food products within the warehouse. This position requires individuals to accurately scan items, maintain timely documentation, and ensure that the facility meets FDA standards. The Picker must be adept at repetitive lifting, visual identification, and understanding labeling practices, which are essential for the role. The primary goal is to select and handle products effectively and efficiently, ensuring that all tasks are completed with a high degree of accuracy and safety. In this role, the Picker will follow instructions from an RF computer system to pick orders accordingly. They will be expected to build stable and well-cubed pallets based on warehouse regulations and achieve an average of 100 packages picked per hour by the 90th day of employment. Safety is paramount, and the Picker must navigate the warehouse safely while maintaining a clean work environment to comply with safety regulations. Additionally, they will examine and inspect stock items for defects and report any damages to supervisors, ensuring that all products are transported carefully from one location to another. The Picker will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, ensuring that all assigned tools are free of damages, and keeping idle time to a minimum. Physical demands include the ability to walk and stand for long hours, bend, lift, twist, and climb, with the requirement to lift at least 60 lbs. The work environment can be cold, with temperatures ranging from 36 degrees to -15 degrees, and the Picker must be able to operate a walk-behind and/or pump jack. Adherence to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any potential safety threats or discrepancies in product handling.
