About the position

The position reports to the Operations Manager, Assistant Terminal Manager, and/or Terminal Manager. The role involves leading, guiding, and directing drivers and other employees, including setting targets, monitoring performance, and providing coaching, counseling, and development. The individual is accountable for managing an efficient, clean, and safe LTL operation, which includes dock planning and scheduling. Responsibilities also include enforcing compliance with company policies, safety rules, and government regulations, as well as participating in hiring and termination processes. The position requires administering assigned portions of the Terminal Business plan and meeting all assigned KPIs. Daily utilization of company P&D enhancement tools and processes is expected, along with reviewing and revising driver schedules to increase efficiencies and reduce costs. The role also involves communicating with customers regarding scheduling issues and conducting safety interviews and training as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry.
  • Prior management, dispatch, and dock experience required.
  • Knowledge of local metropolitan area.
  • Strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work an average of 50 hours/week.
  • Ability to work any shift including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to lift approximately 20 lbs or more.
