Requirements

  • Current and valid State RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Completion of Ultrasound guided PICC placement using Modified Seldinger Technique program.
  • Minimum of three years’ nursing experience, with high level of competency in peripheral catheter placement.
  • PICC and other Vascular Access Device care required.

Nice To Haves

  • Infusion Nurse Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients, place and assist in maintenance of the appropriate vascular access device (VAD) at the bedside, using ultrasound and modified Seldinger Technique (MST) for placement.
  • Utilize high degree of computer skills with data input and reporting mechanisms.
  • Documentation, including data for quality measures of routine audits, and CORE Measures; may include clinical trials and studies.
  • Check and reorder supplies and medications, and stock as needed daily.
  • Schedule procedures for out-patients and prioritize all requests.
  • Patient and family/significant other education; staff education and in services.
  • Follow up patient VAD status, dressing changes and troubleshooting problems.
