About The Position

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#156160) at the rank of lecturer. This is for the spring 2026 academic semester. The contract may be renewed for the following academic year based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The start date for the appointment is January 5, 2026. The successful candidate will teach introductory physics and astronomy lectures and laboratories and online astronomy.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field (conferred by January 1, 2026) will receive special consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory physics and astronomy lectures and laboratories.
