About The Position

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited institution.
  • 5-6 years of experience in clinical radiation physics, particularly in Radiation Oncology.
  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology or Board of Medical Physics.
  • Understanding of treatment planning systems and radiation safety protocols.
  • Strong analysis, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HDR systems and brachytherapy procedures.
  • Familiarity with Varian Eclipse and Brainlab Elements treatment planning systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation, and precise delivery of radiation treatment plans.
  • Ensures the safety of patients and staff during radiation therapy procedures.
  • Participates in clinical, research, and educational duties as needed.
  • Determines the need for and specifies dosimetric and treatment planning equipment.
  • Supervises maintenance of radiation treatment equipment and evaluates its performance.
  • Maintains quality management programs related to external beam radiotherapy equipment.
  • Advises physicians and technical staff during patient planning and treatment.
  • Develops protocols for monitor unit calculations to ensure accuracy with prescriptions.
  • Participates in chart rounds to review treatment plans and patient setups.
  • Maintains documentation related to radiation treatment plans and equipment.
  • Conducts HDR and LDR brachytherapy procedures as needed.
  • Mentors junior physicists and participates in the training of new staff.
