About The Position

Medical Physicist — San Martin Oncology Clinic (Las Vegas, NV) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Pay Range: $100.55–$155.18 per hour (dependent on experience) The Certified Medical Physicist plays a critical role in ensuring the precision, safety, and quality of radiation oncology treatments. Under the guidance of the Administrative Director/Manager or Chief Physicist, you will design and optimize treatment plans, evaluate technical accuracy, and oversee compliance with radiation safety standards. You’ll collaborate closely with the Radiation Oncology Director and Radiation Safety Officer to maintain a robust quality management program for all radiation oncology activities. About San Martin Oncology Clinic Located in Southwest Las Vegas, San Martin Oncology Clinic delivers compassionate, evidence-based care to patients across the Desert Region. Currently a stand-alone facility, the clinic will soon relocate to a nearby cancer center, expanding access to cutting-edge technology and multidisciplinary teams. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Health or Medical Physics from an accredited institution (degree will be verified).
  • Board Certification by ABR, ABMP, or Canadian College of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics.
  • State licensure as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Oncology Information Systems (Varian Aria), network troubleshooting, and DICOM data handling.
  • Programming skills (SQL, Python, scripting, C/C++/C#).
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience (including residency).
  • Eligible for RAM license for HDR and registered medical physicist status in state of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee calibration procedures for radiation therapy equipment per AAPM standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform calibrations and quality control on therapeutic radiation machines; commission new or upgraded equipment.
  • Direct and coordinate technical functions to ensure accurate simulation and treatment per physician instructions.
  • Provide routine clinical physics services, consult with oncologists, and assist in treatment planning.
  • Manage radioactive materials licenses and collaborate with the Radiation Safety Officer to maintain compliance.
  • Research new technologies, advise on procurement, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote Intermountain’s mission, vision, and values; may provide staff training and policy development.
