About The Position

Overview Provide patient care in a professional, efficient and ethical manner, as well as in accordance with the standards and recommendations of applicable State laws and regulations, and the philosophy of New London Hospital. Qualifications Graduate of a four (4) year accredited medical school or equivalent required Board certification or eligible, as appropriate to the position, required Unrestricted and current license to practice medicine in the State of NH required Current MD and BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS Current DEA Responsibilities General Clinical Practices medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing; performs the normal and customary functions of a physician. Collaborates with staff physicians, nurses and administrative staff to determine most appropriate site of care for patients and most cost effective use of resources. Communicates with peers and hospital staff in a collegial manner to provide error-free care during routine care and emergent conditions and asks appropriate probing questions to identify an accurate clinical picture. Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served by knowledge and application of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Follows policies, procedures, and standards of care, standards of practice, and standards of infection control. Follows the processes and practices of NLH designed to meet the specific needs of the patients, i.e. access needs, education needs, age-specific needs, medical surveillance, etc. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients. Accepts and performs other work as assigned. Specific Clinical Provides emergency medical and surgical care to stabilize critically ill or injured patients by examining and diagnosing illnesses/injuries and administering appropriate medications and treatments. Examines, diagnoses and prescribes medications and treatments for Emergency Department patients. Collaborates with nursing, support personnel, and administration in matters affecting patient care, following policies, procedures, and standards of care, standards of practice, and standards of infection control. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients and families. Works on on-going projects for the benefit of the Emergency Department agreed upon on an annual basis (i.e., quality assurance, pre-hospital care, education, etc.). Assists in developing, implementing, evaluating and revising ED policies and procedures. Quality Assists the hospital in the mutual endeavor of improving patient care, will participate fully in quality improvement, utilization review and corporate compliance efforts of the hospital, the Medical Staff or its committees. Participation includes demonstration of the meaningful use of the electronic medical records in accordance with the federal criteria chosen by the hospital. Documentation, in a timely manner using the electronic medical records or such other process established by the hospital, all medical services provided to the Hospital’s patients to ensure the appropriate continuing care of those patients. Actively participates in Medical Staff activities and responsibilities, such as committee and department assignments. Participates in quality improvement, monitoring, and peer review activities as may be assigned by department or medical committee chairperson, including the evaluation of associate members and discharging other staff functions as may be required from time to time. Attends applicable meetings. Administrative Provides all documentation, written and phone orders, and other information necessary for billing laboratory, imaging, and other ancillary services in a timely manner. Completes documentation in a timely manner. Reviews all ancillary test results in a timely manner of receipt of results. Maintains proficiency with technology and software updates. Reports clinical, administrative or technical problems that result in suboptimal communication between health care professionals. Utilizes resources in an appropriate manner to provide quality care. Works with the appropriate staff to develop and support standard guidelines and pathways. Participates in routine physician and management meetings to communicate issues and resolve problems.

Requirements
