About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) founded in 1978, is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health, human, housing, educational and cultural services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos in Washington State. Sea Mar's network of services includes more than 90 medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics and a wide variety of nutritional, social, and educational services. We are recruiting for the following position: Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization The physician will provide Orthopedic and Sports Medicine services topatients of Sea Mar Community Health Centers, including diagnosis,treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of all kinds of acute andchronic musculoskeletal conditions, concussion management, MSKprocedures, Sports pre-participation evaluations, fracture care andcare of special populations. The Physician may cover boxing eventsfor Sea Mar's Youth Boxing program. The Physician will receivelearners in the Sports Medicine department and teach themmusculoskeletal clinical skills. The Physician will have theopportunity to lecture for family medicine residents, ARNP residentsand MD/ARNP colleagues. The physician, if board certified in MSK US,will perform diagnostic scans by referral. The physician, ifcompetent, will perform US-guided procedures, potentially including,joint and bursal injections, needle tenotomy, sclerotherapy,hydrodissection, US-guided tendon debridement, and other emerging newtechnologies consistent with evidence-based medicine, local standardof care, patient needs and Clinical Director approval. Work off-siteis rare. Aside from sporting event coverage or community outreach,there is no clinic on weekends. There is no overnight phone orhospital call. in accordance with training, experience, certification,insurance and licensure in a manner consistent with guidelinesestablished in the principles of practice at Sea Mar and its missionstatement. The physician will work collaboratively with staff toprovide team-based coordinated care. The physician prescribes and/ordispenses required medication to patients according to the individualprescriptive authority granted by the Washington State Board. Thephysician participates in organizing and directing preventive healthprograms such as immunization, disease detection and diseaseprevention activities, including educational programs for patients andcommunity groups in the service areas with approval from the MedicalDirector and/or Health Center Administrator. The physician is expectedto participate in clinical affairs, working with administrativepersonnel, the Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer toimprove the patient care experience.

Requirements

Licensed MD or DO
Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for GraduateMedical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)approved post-graduate residency; board certification in theappropriate specialty or actively seeking board certificationpreferred but not required.
Successful completion of a fellowship in Sports Medicine
Board certification in RMSK-US required to bill diagnostic scans
A current DEA certificate

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred but notrequired
Prior community health experience preferred

Responsibilities

The physician will work as part of a care team to provide qualitycomprehensive services to Sea Mar patients.
The physician provides Sports Medicine services to patients of Sea MarCommunity Health Centers in accordance with training, experience,certification, insurance and licensure in a manner consistent withguidelines established in the principles of practice at Sea Mar andits mission statement.
The physician may refer patients to medical specialists or othersources of service when necessary.
The physician prescribes and/or dispenses required medication topatients according to the individual prescriptive authority granted bythe Washington State Board.
The physician participates in organizing and directing sporting eventcoverage, program evaluation organizing program evaluation, anddirecting preventive health programs, such as immunization, diseasedetection and disease prevention activities, including educationalprograms for patients and community groups in the service areas withapproval from the Medical Director and/or Health CenterAdministrator.
The physician is expected to participate in clinical affairs, workingwith administrative personnel, the Medical Director and the ChiefMedical Officer to improve the patient care experience.
The physician provides care for special groups of patients such asthose in nursing homes or other institutions when appropriate, such asinjured workers, patients with chronic disease in need of exerciseprescriptions, and patients with chronic pain referred by theirprimary care doctors requesting treatment recommendations.
