About The Position

This is a great opportunity to partner with Ascension Borgess Brain and Spine to lead the stroke program which was awarded Americas 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care by HealthGrades. The position is for a Vascular Neurologist with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The call schedule includes daily inpatient coverage, one evening per week based on rotation of current neurologists, and 1 in 5 weekend coverage based on rotation of current neurologists. The practice consists of 4 providers (all MD) and 1 APP, supported by 13 staff members, with partnerships with onsite Neurosurgery and Neuro Interventional Radiologists. The facility is located at Ascension Borgess Neurology, 1541 Gull Road, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI, which is currently designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and/or Medically Underserved Area/Population (MUA/P).

Requirements

• Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Coordinates discharge planning with case management.
• Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accepts patient referrals from other physicians.
• Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses.
• Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
• Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
