About The Position

This position is for a Physician specializing in Urology at University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians). M Physicians is a non-profit, multi-specialty group practice that includes University of Minnesota Medical School faculty clinicians, community-practice clinicians, advanced practice providers, and healthcare professionals. The organization's mission is to deliver exceptional patient care, advance medicine through research, and train the next generation of health professionals. Providers practice at affiliated locations under the M Health Fairview shared care delivery system, which is a collaboration between University of Minnesota Physicians, University of Minnesota Medical Center, and Fairview Health Services. The role involves providing 24/7 call coverage for urologic emergencies, performing both emergency and elective surgical procedures, conducting daily rounds on admitted urology patients, managing post-operative care, and collaborating closely with hospitalists, ER physicians, and advanced practice providers to ensure seamless patient transitions. University of Minnesota Physicians is based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. All employees, providers, learners, and volunteers are required to receive an annual Flu vaccination unless a reasonable accommodation or exemption is granted.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME residency and/or fellowship-training program.
  • Board eligible/certified.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota.
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Receive an annual Flu vaccination unless a reasonable accommodation or exemption is granted.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 call coverage for urologic emergencies, including kidney stones, acute urinary retention, hematuria, and trauma.
  • Perform both emergency and elective procedures such as cystoscopies, stone removals (ureteroscopy, lithotripsy), TURP, and robotic-assisted surgeries (e.g., DaVinci) if available.
  • Conduct daily rounding on admitted urology patients, manage post-operative care.
  • Work closely with hospitalists, ER physicians, and advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs) to ensure seamless patient transitions.
