About The Position

Physician specializing in Ophthalmology to serve as a member of the Retina Division, within the Department of Ophthalmology; directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings; interviews, obtains and reviews medical history of patients; performs physical examinations to access medical or surgical needs; orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; responds to consultation requests; determines, prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or medications required; documents all services and instructions provided in medical record; educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families; directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities; serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of Ophthalmology; ensures continuing medical education requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.

Requirements

  • M.D. degree in medicine or equivalent education
  • Completion of an accredited residency training program required
  • Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Ophthalmology required
  • Current or interim permit to practice medicine from the State of Ohio Medical Board required
  • Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required

  • Ensures continuing medical education requirements are met
  • Participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities
