About The Position

Are you a board-certified Sleep Medicine Physician looking to make a profound impact in the lives of warriors and military families? Join a highly specialized interdisciplinary team at the Intrepid Spirit Center at Fort Bragg, NC, dedicated to providing cutting-edge care for service members affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and neurological conditions. We are seeking a Somnologist (Sleep Medicine Physician) to deliver expert-level sleep medicine services in support of the Defense Health Agency. What You’ll Do Clinical Care & Diagnosis Serve as a sleep medicine specialist responsible for examination, diagnosis, and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic, including those with sleep and breathing disorders of moderate to severe complexity. Examine patients, order, interpret, and evaluate the full range of tests for diseases or pain syndromes affecting sleep. Make diagnoses and prescribe appropriate treatments including CPAP, bi-level airway pressure, oxygen, medications, and behavioral modalities. Provide expert assessment and interpretation of polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, maintenance of wakefulness testing, actigraphy, and overnight oximetry. Conduct comprehensive neurological exams including cranial nerve, motor/sensory, and cerebellar function assessments. Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Education Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in sleep medicine, collaborating with clinicians in neurology, psychiatry, physiatry, and other specialties. Oversee and educate interdisciplinary teams responsible for testing and treating patients with sleep disorders. Teach and provide consultation to nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows. Documentation & Compliance Document and close notes in MHS Genesis Respond to beneficiary messages in the MHS Genesis secure portal Provide prescription renewal and telephone consultative services as needed.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school.
  • Foreign graduates must provide evidence of equivalency via ECFMG certification or successful completion of the USMLE.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Sleep Medicine.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted license as a Somnologist from a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
  • Successful completion of an accredited internship and residency program (ACGME or AOA approved). At least one (1) year of supervised clinical experience post-degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • DEA registration number required for prescribing controlled substances.
  • Must obtain and maintain a 10-digit NPI matching the site of care.
  • Must successfully complete a Tier III security investigation and obtain a CAC.

  • Fellowship training in sleep medicine preferred.
