About The Position

The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provision of quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-University Medical Group. This role involves engaging in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects, or injuries and recommending or prescribing treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental, or functional ailments or defects. The physician is expected to render medical treatment consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care without regard to patients' ability to pay or their race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, or age. Additionally, the physician must complete accurate, legible, and timely records for all medical examinations and procedures, and comply with standards of accepted medical practice and regulations of managed care organizations.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Successful Completion of Residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible; Medical Staff Privileges.
  • South Carolina Medical License.
  • South Carolina Controlled Substance License.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Number.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects or injuries and recommends or prescribes treatments.
  • Renders medical treatment consistent with professional standards of care without regard to ability to pay or demographic factors.
  • Completes accurate, legible, and timely records for all medical examinations and procedures.
  • Provides after hours call coverage equally with other physicians unless otherwise agreed.
  • Complies with standards of accepted medical practice and regulations of managed care organizations.
  • Maintains continuing medical education to meet certification and state licensing requirements.
  • Participates in non-revenue generating activities to advance the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health.
  • Participates in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts.
  • Establishes quality assurance programs, utilization management programs, patient education services, and patient satisfaction programs.
  • Assists in obtaining and maintaining licenses, permits, and accreditations related to the practice.
