About The Position

The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provision of quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-University Medical Group. This role involves engaging in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects, or injuries and recommending or prescribing treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental, or functional ailments or defects. The physician is expected to render medical treatment consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care without regard to patients' ability to pay or their demographic characteristics. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate medical records, providing after-hours call coverage, complying with medical practice standards, and participating in various non-revenue generating activities that advance the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Successful Completion of Residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• South Carolina Medical License.
• South Carolina Controlled Substance License.
• Drug Enforcement Agency Number.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Knowledge of Office Equipment (fax/copier).
• Mathematical skills.
• Specialty specific skills.

Responsibilities

• Engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects or injuries.
• Renders medical treatment consistent with professional standards of care.
• Completes accurate, legible, and timely medical records.
• Provides after hours call coverage equally with other physicians.
• Complies with standards of accepted medical practice and regulations of managed care organizations.
• Maintains continuing medical education to meet certification and licensing requirements.
• Participates in non-revenue generating activities to advance Prisma Health's Vision and Mission.
• Participates in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts.
• Establishes quality assurance programs and patient education services.
• Assists in obtaining and maintaining licenses and accreditations.
