Ochsner Children's Hospital is seeking a BOARD-CERTIFIED CLINICAL PEDIATRIC GENETICIST for an exciting opportunity to serve as Section Head of Clinical Genetics in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will work closely with our 2 junior pediatric geneticists as well as our dedicated more experienced pediatric geneticist who works remotely, 3 genetic counselors, and an experienced group of nurses. The candidate will lead recruiting of additional Pediatric Genetic faculty to join the section. Expertise in the evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing care of patients with a variety of genetic disorders, including congenital anomalies, congenital heart disease, chromosomal disorders, autism, mitochondrial disease, and cancer, is desired. The section also offers prenatal genetic counseling as well as newborn screening. Ochsner Children’s, comprising more than 100 primary care pediatricians who are part of our group of over 290 pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists in 27 locations across Louisiana and Mississippi is the region’s leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of complex specialty services including congenital heart surgery, cardiac and liver transplantation, stem cell therapies, advanced GI, Hematology-Oncology and AYA Oncology, and a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group including Cleft Palate/Cranio-Facial Surgery, advanced spine surgery and the Gulf South’s only comprehensive, multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center. Ochsner Children’s Hospital includes a 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, a NAEC-accredited level IV, 4 bed Pediatric EMU and a 44-bed Pediatric Acute Care unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, supported by a 24-7 pediatric and neonatal transport team utilizing rotary and fixed wing aircraft, as well as ground transport. Last year we broke ground on a new 5-story Children’s Hospital on our main campus in New Orleans, with expected opening in quarter 1 of 2028. Ochsner Children’s Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is also responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland. The Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine has just been LCME accredited as a brand new allopathic medical school with plans to enter their first class in 2027. Our faculty publishes hundreds of research papers annually and lead numerous multi-center studies and trials. Ochsner Children’s is a leader in healthcare innovation.   • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative care for children with known or suspected genetic conditions.
  • Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and allied health students.
  • Grow, develop, and lead a vibrant section of Medical Genetics serving children and physicians from across the region.
  • Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to lead Pediatric Precision Medicine initiatives, as part of Ochsner’s commitment to being the regional leader in genomics and precision medicine.
