About The Position
The Radiation Oncology Section Chief plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals diagnosed with cancer and certain benign conditions. This position encompasses a blend of administrative leadership, direct patient care, and oversight of educational and research activities within the section. The Section Chief is responsible for ensuring that all clinical operations are conducted efficiently and effectively, adhering to the highest standards of care and compliance with established protocols. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of managed care practices, including healthcare finance, billing, coding, and documentation, as well as a commitment to utilizing current automated technologies for health information management and patient data tracking. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Section Chief will engage in various administrative duties, including setting goals and priorities for the service, assigning duties to staff, and participating in operational boards and committees. Collaboration with other clinical service chiefs and staff is essential to drive organizational improvements and participate in national initiatives related to Radiation Oncology and Radiation Safety. The Section Chief will also oversee the recruitment and assignment of practitioners, ensuring that the section is staffed with qualified professionals who can deliver exceptional care. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with the possibility of on-call duties, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Telework options are available for 1-2 days per pay period, providing flexibility in the work environment.
