About The Position

Seeking a Pulmonologist to diagnose and treat diseases of the respiratory system and breathing-related conditions. Possess the skills treat many breathing-related conditions including asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, tuberculosis and work-related lung diseases. May evaluate, treat sleep conditions, and interpret sleep studies. May interpret pulmonary function tests (PFTs). Must have critical care skills. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Requirements

  • Must have critical care skills.
  • Skills should include ability to place central venous lines, hemodialysis catheters and intubation.
  • Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Will provide coverage in the ICU unit, including rotating shifts to ensure continuous unit coverage.
  • Provide diagnosis and treatment to adult patients presenting with conditions that are applicable to his/her practice, training, experience or current competence.
  • Provide treatment of pulmonary diseases and disorders in an outpatient setting, provide consultation services in an inpatient setting or emergent need.
  • Run the Home Oxygen Clinic and provide evaluations and management to patients who meet criteria for Home Oxygen as per compliance with VHA and/ or CVAHCS directives and policies.
  • Manage patients with Critical Care related conditions such as but not limited to: acute and chronic respiratory failure, obstructive and restrictive airway disease, home oxygen dependency problems, the patient in shock of diverse origin, severe sepsis, and others.
  • Perform procedures related to critical care medicine such as: basic and advanced airway management, rapid sequence intubation, management of mechanical ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and venous central line placement.
