About The Position

Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital is a newly built 96-bed inpatient hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. We provide an acute inpatient treatment program for adults who are struggling with behavioral health concerns. Due to expansion, we are looking for an additional full time Psychiatrist to join the team. Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization and/or medication.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.
  • One or more years' post graduate degree practice preferred.
  • Licensed in the state in which the facility(s) operate.
  • Board certification in psychiatry.
  • Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions.

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.
  • Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
  • Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
  • Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
  • Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.
  • Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs.
  • Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Orders studies, tests and ancillary services.
  • Documents all services in patient medical record.
  • Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Participates in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements.
