About The Position

The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The job is open for applications from 12/27/2024 to 01/07/2025, with a salary range of $121,020 - $300,000 per year, depending on education and length of practice. The position is permanent, full-time, and located in various cities in Oregon including Bend, Salem, The Dalles, and West Linn. Telework is eligible on an ad-hoc basis, and travel is not required.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States.
  • Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed Residency or more than 3 years in Primary Care.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary care team.
  • Proficient in women's healthcare.
  • Chronic disease management experience.
  • Geriatrics experience.
  • Experience managing a panel of patients, including population management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care full time and work as a member of a patient aligned care team (PACT) comprised of a nurse care manager (R.N.), a clinical associate (Licensed Practical Nurse, Intermittent Care Technician or Medical Assistant), and an administrative assistant to provide care for a population of veterans.
  • Contribute to the achievement of quality of care standards, efficiency, process improvement and patient satisfaction within the Primary Care Division.
  • Staff walk-in patients or provide surrogacy coverage as specified by management.
  • Practice as an independent provider utilizing direct face-to-face visits, telephone visits, and veteran video connect visits (VVC).
  • May be assigned to any of the outpatient clinics within the catchment area of the VA Portland Health Care System.
  • Practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence.
