About The Position

The position involves direct patient care, oversight and supervision of mid-level practitioners, liaison activities with local medical staff members, and participation in policy development and long-term planning for clinic operations. The role requires management of patient care, personnel management and development, and management of clinic programs and services. The physician will provide direct services to patients, supervise mid-level staff, review medical records, and ensure ongoing patient and family education. Additionally, the physician will assist in quality improvement activities and maintain compliance with clinic external review requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree in medicine (MD or DO) from a nationally accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school.
  • A minimum of three years as a physician, practicing in a primary care specialty.
  • Minimum of one to three years' experience in supervision of mid-level practitioners and/or rural health clinic setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated current clinical skills, well-developed communication skills, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to provide oversight and support to mid-level staff.
  • Working knowledge of factors impacting clinic practice and rural health clinic status, including standards of care, reimbursement issues, industry trends, and networking.
  • Current professional licensure in Washington State required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Geriatrics required.
  • Active unrestricted DEA license required.
  • BLS & ACLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct services to patients on an ongoing basis at clinic sites.
  • Provides clinical supervision of mid-level staff and remains available as a resource for planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care services.
  • Periodically reviews medical records as part of patient care evaluation process.
  • Ensures ongoing patient and family education is provided and facilitates the development and evaluation of standardized education plans.
  • Assists in ongoing Quality Improvement activities, including planning, conducting, reporting, and evaluation via the performance review process.
  • Provides leadership and direction to mid-level practitioner staff in accordance with practice act guidelines.
  • Assists in professional growth and development of clinical staff, including education within and beyond the department.
  • Participates in and fosters ongoing staff communication and support via regular staff meetings and work group meetings.
  • Remains aware of and assists in meeting or exceeding clinic external review requirements to maintain operations and reimbursement.
  • Fosters open, supportive communication and conflict management within and beyond the clinics.
  • Establishes and maintains a departmental climate conducive to healthy work relationships and collaboration.
  • Participates in interdepartmental meetings and work groups as required or requested.
  • Serves as a resource to other departments and community providers as needed.
  • Provides community education and/or information as requested and attends community meetings as appropriate.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional education and developmental needs, and seeks support and assistance as needed.
