About The Position

We are seeking a Physician (Primary Care/Family Medicine) to provide high-quality clinical services in support of the Defense Health Agency. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school.
  • A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination
  • Board certified or board eligible through the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists in Family Medicine or Primary Care.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted medical license from a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
  • Successful completion of an accredited internship and residency program (ACGME or AOA approved). At least one (1) year of supervised clinical experience post-degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • DEA registration number required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a 10-digit NPI matching the site of care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of physician services as a Primary Care Physician on an interdisciplinary evaluation team, providing treatment planning for warriors with mild TBI and psychological health issues.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat, and prescribe courses of treatment
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care education.
  • Order diagnostic tests and request consultations or referrals with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other healthcare professionals within the scope of clinical privileges.
  • Coordinate with the care team on matters pertaining to personnel, prioritization of projects, equipment, and clinic policies.
  • Serve as physician liaison to a referral management coordination call center in support of care allocation for clinical referrals.
  • Document and close notes in MHS Genesis
  • Respond to beneficiary messages in the MHS Genesis secure portal
