About The Position

The Physician (Preventive Medicine) position at the Department of Defense is located at Fort Stewart, GA, within the Winn Army Community Hospital's Preventive Medicine Department. Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Physician from a U.S. state or territory.
• Completion of an accredited residency training in Preventive Medicine and at least 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in public health or preventive medicine settings.
• Familiarity with military health systems and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform epidemiological investigations of acute and chronic diseases.
• Promote health and prevent the occurrence, progression, and disabling effects of disease and injury.
• Assess social, cultural, and behavioral influences on health.
• Coordinate and integrate Army Public Health Nursing, health promotion, environmental health, disease surveillance, and other preventive medicine activities across the installation.
• Provide information about potential health hazards and possible interventions to MTF staff, beneficiaries, and local, state, and federal health authorities.
• Work with large population groups and individual patients to promote health and understand the risks of disease, injury, disability, and death.
