Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a Physician Practice E&M Auditor Educator to perform comprehensive audits to determine the integrity of coding and billing for physician and clinical fees. This role involves the detection and correction of documentation, coding, and billing errors, as well as assessing the medical necessity of services billed. The auditor will evaluate the accuracy of documentation, including E/M and other payer codes, and ensure compliance with federal guidelines. Additionally, the position requires the development and execution of educational opportunities and curriculums based on audit results and trends in coding compliance. The auditor will lead educational events for providers, provide project management support for audit and coding initiatives, and establish positive working relationships as a subject matter expert in federal coding compliance requirements.

  • Perform comprehensive audits to determine the integrity of coding and billing for physician and clinical fees.
  • Detect and correct documentation, coding, and billing errors.
  • Evaluate the accuracy of documentation, including E/M and other payer codes.
  • Assess medical necessity of services billed.
  • Research and apply federal guidelines and ensure compliance with audit delivery.
  • Develop and execute educational opportunities and curriculums based on audit results.
  • Lead provider education events to discuss audit results and identify trends.
  • Provide support for related audit and coding initiatives.
  • Establish positive working relationships as a subject matter expert.
  • High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED or equivalent training or experience required.
  • AAPC Certified Professional Coder.
  • AAPC Certified Professional Medical Auditor.
  • AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based.
  • At least 2 years of professional E&M coding experience.
  • At least 2 years of E&M provider education experience.
  • Strong knowledge of E&M regulations and CMS Documentation Guidelines.
  • Experience with data abstraction and analysis of patient encounters.
  • Proficient in ICD10CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and report generation.
  • CPC-Certified Professional Coder and/or CCS-P-Certified Coding Specialist-Physician required upon hire.
  • CPMA-Certified Professional Medical Auditor upon hire or must be completed within 1 year.
  • Estimated pay range for this position is $25.74 - $33.46 / hour depending on experience.
