About The Position

WakeMed Physician Practices is a multi-specialty group with over 500 physicians in a variety of specialty areas. Our organization places a high value on quality, caring and compassionate physicians and we are committed to providing state-of-the-art health care to our patients and the community we serve. We are seeking a Pediatric Gastroenterologist to join our established Pediatric GI division in Wake County, North Carolina. The WakeMed Pediatric GI program was started in October 2014 and has shown successful steady growth over the past ten years. Our team currently consists of 4 physicians, 2 nurse practitioners, pediatric dietitian, pediatric psychologist, social worker and support staff. We work closely with WakeMed feeding and occupational therapists in our recently developed feeding team. This is a clinical position providing outpatient, inpatient and endoscopic coverage. The division provides comprehensive care for children with GI problems through our outpatient clinic and through consultative support for the WakeMed Children's Hospital NICU, PICU and pediatric inpatient services. Call coverage and clinical responsibilities will be shared with team members.

Requirements

  • Licensed Medical Physician.
  • Board Certification in Area of Practice Required.
  • Doctorate in Medicine Required.
  • Completion of Fellowship/Internship/Residency in Related Area Required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality clinical care to patients in the Pediatric GI division.
  • Offer teaching and supervision to residents, medical students, and/or APPs within the division.
  • Ensure appropriate coding and corporate compliance.
  • Handle some general administrative responsibilities of the practice.
  • Participate in consultation services with pediatric hospitalist and PICU teams.
  • Utilize EMR (EPIC for inpatient and outpatient) for patient management.
  • Engage in medical student and resident teaching opportunities.
  • Oversee the efficient operation of the endoscopy suite with anesthesia support.
  • Share after hours and weekend foreign body coverage with surgical colleagues.
  • Collaborate with adult GI colleagues for ERCP support.
  • Manage the IBD program with office-based infusion service.
