The position is for a specialist in movement disorders neurology at the VA Portland Health Care System, providing direct and consultative care to patients with diseases of the neurologic system. The role includes responsibilities in both outpatient and inpatient clinical settings, particularly within the Parkinson's Disease Research, Education and Clinical Center (PADRECC). The neurologist will lead the neurology inpatient admitting and consult service, supervise fellows, residents, and students, and provide comprehensive care including medical history, neurological exams, diagnosis, treatment plans, and patient counseling. Teaching is a significant component of the role, requiring outstanding teaching skills. The work schedule will be negotiated but will generally fall between Monday and Friday, with on-call hours expected.
