About The Position

The position involves assisting the physician in assessing the needs of patients through various methods including history collection, observation, physical exams, telephone triage, and analysis of diagnostic data. The role includes performing direct patient care such as triage, assessments, procedures, treatments, patient education, and providing discharge and follow-up instructions. The individual will prepare patients for physician visits and systematically collect pertinent information to formulate an initial database, which includes vital signs, history, and chief complaints, documenting all relevant information in the patient's chart. Additionally, the role requires performing specialized tests, preparing medications, assisting with treatments, scheduling appointments, and conducting follow-up calls. The position also involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in examination rooms, managing medical supply inventory, and participating in quality assurance projects.

Requirements

  • Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as an LPN in good standing required.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician in assessing patient needs through various data collection methods.
  • Perform direct patient care including triage, assessments, procedures, and treatments.
  • Provide patient education and discharge instructions.
  • Prepare patients for physician visits and document relevant information in medical records.
  • Perform specialized tests such as audiometry and electrocardiography as needed.
  • Prepare medications and administer injections as ordered by the physician.
  • Schedule testing and referral appointments for patients as instructed by the physician.
  • Consult with patients via telephone and perform follow-up calls as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms according to OSHA standards.
  • Manage medical supply inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance projects and promote the practice's mission.
