About The Position

The Physician Office LPN at Eagerton Family Practice plays a crucial role in supporting the physician and ensuring high-quality patient care. This position involves assisting the physician in assessing patient needs through various methods, including history-taking, observation, physical examinations, and analysis of diagnostic data. The LPN will perform direct patient care tasks such as triage, assessments, procedures, treatments, patient education, and providing discharge and follow-up instructions. Preparing patients for their appointments with the physician is also a key responsibility, which includes formulating an initial database by systematically collecting pertinent information through communication with patients and their families, as well as through objective evaluations. This includes taking vital signs, documenting medical histories, and recording chief complaints in the patient's chart. In addition to these responsibilities, the LPN will perform specialized tests such as audiometry, electrocardiography, inhalation treatments, and selected laboratory procedures as needed. The role also requires preparing medications and administering injections as ordered by the physician, assisting with treatments and procedures, and providing patient education tailored to individual situations. Scheduling testing and referral appointments per physician instructions, consulting with patients via telephone, and performing necessary follow-up calls are also part of the job. The LPN is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized examination environment, ensuring that all instruments are sanitized and ready for use, and notifying the appropriate personnel of any equipment malfunctions. Maintaining medical supply inventory, checking expiration dates on drugs and vaccines, and disposing of outdated medications are essential tasks. The LPN will also order medical supplies and assist drug representatives as needed. A commitment to continuous learning and quality assurance is vital, as the LPN will promote a climate conducive to learning among co-workers and participate in departmental quality assurance projects. The LPN is expected to embody the practice's mission and philosophy, project a positive image of the practice, and demonstrate flexibility by performing the duties of other department personnel when necessary. Other duties may be assigned as required.
