About The Position

The Cardiologist is accountable for carrying out clinical and administrative duties, as applicable, in a manner to promote high-quality clinical services and excellence in education and training programs at Beaumont. The assignment includes participation in the STEMI Call Coverage Program, which requires the physician to be available to adjudicate questionable EKGs within 5 minutes, call back within 5 minutes of receiving a STEMI activation page, and arrive at the cath lab within 30 minutes of activation or be available to initiate the procedure within 5 minutes of the patient being ready. Physicians may be on-call at more than one hospital at a time but must have a panel-approved backup physician immediately available to cover in the event of multiple activations at or around the same time. Responsibilities also include completing all clinical documentation in a timely manner consistent with health system, payer, and regulatory requirements, participating in activities related to improving operational and financial performance, quality, and patient satisfaction as requested. On-call responsibilities will last for 24 hours according to the on-call schedule, and on-call switches must be approved in advance by the medical staff office. Last-minute changes or changes after hours must be approved by the Department. Covering physicians must have a valid STEMI on-call contract; otherwise, the Department will assign a replacement physician. Reasonable on-call accommodations are available upon request. Physicians may be removed from the on-call panel by the Department for failure to comply with performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Doctorate from an approved Medical College.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Membership in the Beaumont medical staff for at least two (2) years.
  • Valid LIC-Physician (MD) or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) license in the State of Michigan upon hire.
  • CRT-DEA Registration in the State of Michigan upon hire.
  • CRT-Board Certification MD from AMBS or CRT-Board Certification DO from AOA upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the cath lab within 30 minutes of activation or be available to initiate the procedure within 5 minutes of the patient being ready.

  • Adhere to on-call responsibilities lasting for 24 hours according to the on-call schedule.
  • Obtain approval for on-call switches in advance from the medical staff office.
  • Ensure compliance with performance expectations to remain on the on-call panel.
