About The Position
The Physician / Neurology position in Portsmouth, Virginia, is a locum tenens role that offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment. This position is designed for a neurologist who will provide clinical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The coverage period for this role spans from January 30 to December 31, 2024, with specific shifts that need to be filled throughout the year. The neurologist will be expected to work a standard shift from 8 AM to 5 PM, with additional on-call responsibilities during weeknights and weekends. The call schedule includes weeknight coverage from 5 PM to 8 AM and weekend coverage from 8 AM to 8 AM, with a call ratio of approximately 15%. The practice will involve an average of 8 outpatient and 3 inpatient patients per day, focusing exclusively on adult patient demographics. The practice is split evenly between outpatient and inpatient care, with a small percentage dedicated to trauma cases. The neurologist will be joining a team of two other neurologists and one advanced practice provider (APP), supported by a dedicated staff that includes two licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and one medical assistant (MA). The role requires proficiency in several key procedures, including radiologic exam interpretation, EEGs, brain death exams, and EMGs. The facility is equipped with onsite lab and X-ray services, and utilizes Epic/Connect Care for electronic medical records.
