About The Position

The position is for a Neurologist at UAB St. Vincent's East, requiring board certification or eligibility in Neurology. The schedule is 7on/7off, with onsite presence and call required for both weekdays and weekends during shifts. The practice environment includes access to MRI and advanced imaging, EEG, and neurodiagnostics, with responsibilities including coverage for stroke in the emergency department and collaboration with medical staff.

Requirements

• Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accepts patient referrals from other physicians and acts as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients requiring hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses.
• Participates in academic programs (e.g., medical education and research) as requested.
• Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements and appeals all denials in a timely manner.
• Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on-call schedules.
