About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The facility provides care to approximately 82,000 veterans in the midlands and upstate SC. CBOCs are located in Anderson, Greenville, Spartanburg, Florence, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Rock Hill, and provide primary care, mental health, and telemedicine services. Dorn VAMC is affiliated with the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine and provides teaching services for students and residents. USC is the state's flagship research university with Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, and an active Graduate School. Columbia, SC is a wonderful place to live and work. Requirements

  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
  • BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with the standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program.
  • Collaborate with other services as appropriate.
  • Participate in and/or manage all aspects of a general Neurology program, to include clinical, administrative, academic, and research components if warranted.
  • Manage patient workload within available staffing, which may include nurse practitioners.
  • Perform the usual administrative components of patient care management, such as: timely documentation of progress notes, orders and consultation findings in electronic medical record, dictation and electronic signature of OP reports.
  • Provision of neurologic evaluation and treatment of Veterans with compassion on both an inpatient and outpatient basis along with the education and counseling of Veterans and their families on medical conditions/treatments
  • Responsible for diagnosis and management of various types of neurological disorders.
