About the position

The position involves reviewing medical records, interpreting diagnostic tests and x-rays, and utilizing clinical judgment to arrange for specialty consultations. The physician will coordinate with other physicians to evaluate and correlate conflicting medical evidence for difficult cases. Responsibilities include providing routine, complex, and emergency intakes and evaluations for various illnesses and disorders, performing fitness for duty evaluations, Medical Evaluation Board consultations, and Temporary Disability Retired List evaluations. The physician will also provide appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers both within and outside the Medical Treatment Facility.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records and interpret diagnostic tests/x-rays.
  • Arrange for other medical specialty consultations.
  • Coordinate with other physicians on difficult cases.
  • Provide routine, complex, and emergency intakes and evaluations.
  • Perform fitness for duty evaluations.
  • Conduct Medical Evaluation Board consultations.
  • Perform Temporary Disability Retired List evaluations.
  • Provide referrals to other medical and mental health care providers.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must complete a Personnel Security Investigation.
  • Must consent to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide an exemption.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and random testing thereafter.
  • Must complete a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • Immunization screening is required, including Hepatitis B for positions with direct patient contact.
  • Must obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain relevant clinical privileges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting post-medical degree.
  • Completion of accredited residency training in the specialty.
