About The Position

Corewell Health's Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, nationally recognized for child & adolescent behavioral health by U. S. News and World Report, has a wonderful opportunity for a board-certified child & adolescent psychiatrist looking for a leadership opportunity within a premier children's hospital. We are seeking to hire a Medical Director to lead our 12-bed, state-of-the-art pediatric medical psychiatric unit. For the appropriate candidate, this position could also include the role of pediatric behavioral health core faculty for the pediatrics residency program. Administrative time will be provided for both medical director and core faculty responsibilities. For clinical care, we anticipate a blend of inpatient and outpatient practice and would welcome learning your areas of interest. Requirements

  • Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • License - Michigan, MD/DO
  • Certification - BLS
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Responsibilities

  • Assuring quality, safety, and evidence-based practice
  • Managing and overseeing the unit's 12-bed census
  • Working with payors for ongoing authorization and credentialing
  • Leading quality, safety, and experience work and providing necessary reporting on these efforts
  • Acting as an advocate and provide ongoing communication with patients, families, staff and multidisciplinary team
  • Partnering with nursing, care management and providers to achieve unit goals
  • Serving as a liaison with TJC and state of Michigan for site accreditation visits
  • Being the authority in care treatment plans when there are differing views
  • Building and maintaining a positive unit culture where patients, providers, and staff can thrive
