About The Position

Come join our team at Seldovia Village Tribe (SVT)! Seldovia Village Tribe provides health care to all patients (native and non-native) as a Community Health Center. SVT Health and Wellness provides high quality, respectful, primary care, integrated health, wellness and dental services. What You'll Do: Responsible for direct primary clinical health care, wellness, and health care services for Native Beneficiaries and community residents presenting as SVT Health & Wellness patients and their families in an ambulatory primary care clinic. Provide comprehensive, cost effective acute and chronic primary and preventative health care to patients and their families within scope of training, capabilities, and license criteria as a primary health care provider. Participate in counseling of chronic and infectious disease patients, treatment and medical care management, coordinating services with other local and regional providers. Coordinate and conduct, health education and the promotion of health activities in subjects related to physical and emotional health. Function as patient advocate; conduct follow up care and coordinate with other health care providers and make appropriate referrals for patient continuity of care. Communicate clearly and respectfully to all patient, families, staff and community contacts. Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with local and regional health care providers, agencies, community groups, and programs to enhance SVT Health & Wellness public relations. Coordinate with nursing staff and Care Coordinators to oversee patient care, providing support as needed. Be able to travel as needed to other communities including Anchor Point, and from Homer to Seldovia by small airplane and sometimes by boat when airplanes are on weather hold. Travel is a day trip, but inclement weather may require an overnight stay. Requirements

  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy program.
  • Maintain active Board certification in area of chosen specialty; or with successful completion of certification exam within first three months of hire, if a new graduate.
  • Must maintain an active physician license with the State of Alaska and an active DEA license
  • Maintain ACLS certification
  • TB test following hire, provided by SVT
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and a pre-employment background check including fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in a clinic setting.
  • Working knowledge of a health and wellness care facility, Tribal Health, and Community Health Centers.
