About The Position

HIA Health is seeking a physician to join our medical team to support both Hospice patients and our primary and palliative home-based care patients. This position will collaborate with the Medical Director, physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and the inter-disciplinary team in providing world-class hospice, palliative, and home-based primary medical care to patients in accordance with federal regulations and the strategic direction set by the board of directors. Some travel required within service area. This position will be located in Fargo, ND and will provide support to both our home-based hospice services as well as rotational support in our brand-new state-of-the-art and first ever in North Dakota, Hospice Inpatient Unit - Heather's House.

Requirements

  • MD or D.O. licensure in Minnesota and North Dakota (or willing to obtain dual licensure upon employment offer)
  • DEA Licensure in MN and ND
  • Current state driver’s license and active auto insurance
  • Experience in care of terminally ill patients
  • Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork and collaboration

Nice To Haves

  • Hospice and Palliative Care Certification or Fellowship, highly preferred
  • Administrative health care experience desirable
  • Board certified FP or IM desirable

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the medical director in providing medical expertise for:
  • Standards of medical care for hospice patients
  • Eligibility and ineligibility of referred patients
  • Disease management and pain and symptom management of hospice patients
  • Direct medical care to hospice patients
  • Physician-to-physician relationships and leadership
  • Clinical and public education regarding hospice care
  • Guidance to hospice NP or nurse as they provide direct patient care
