About The Position

Jefferson Health is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Urgent Care Physician to join our dynamic clinical team at Jefferson Health as a Regional Physician Lead. This role is ideal for a motivated clinician interested in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, academic medical setting. Job Description Reporting Reporting to urgent care clinical leadership. Key Responsibilities Serve as the physician lead for a designated node/center, supporting clinical excellence, provider development, and consistent standards of care. Provide direct clinical care within the node, with a focus on high-volume sites and identified areas of operational or clinical need. Maintain flexibility to provide in-person clinical support at any site within the node, with occasional deployment outside the assigned node in coordination with system leadership based on organizational needs. Participate in a shared call rotation to provide backup clinical coverage in the event of unscheduled callouts. Partners with clinical leads with onboarding and clinical education for new physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), including training in urgent care procedures, EMR documentation, and visit flow efficiency. Meets all federal, state and Jefferson clinical, quality and regulatory requirements for supervision of advanced practice providers and staff. Deliver elbow-to-elbow mentorship with APCs, focusing on developing clinical confidence, refining practice style, and strengthening patient-centered communication. Collaborate with APCs to reinforce evidence-based best practices, including appropriate imaging, antibiotic stewardship, follow-up protocols, and documentation integrity. Quality Assurance: Actively participate in the Urgent Care Quality Assurance (QA) process, including: Peer review of clinical charts and outcomes Participating in clinical quality operations committee Identification and follow-up of clinical outliers, trends, or concerns Facilitation of closed-loop communication and coaching for providers Collaboration with clinical leadership on system-level improvements Championing patient safety, care standardization, and regulatory compliance Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • MD or DO with an active or eligible Pennsylvania medical license
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a comparable specialty
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or high-acuity outpatient practice preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support APCs in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative leadership style
  • Comfortable with flexible scheduling, regional travel, and working across multiple sites as needed
