About The Position

Physician is expected to provide comprehensive patient care in the form of interventional, non-invasive, consultative, and inpatient and outpatient cardiology patient care at the CGVAMC. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for Highly Qualified Applicants. This is an Open-Continuous announcement that will remain open until the position is filled. Duties include but are not limited to the following: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Requirements

  • Current BLS/ACLS required
  • Moderate Sedation Privileges and certification required
  • Fluoroscopy privileges and certification

Responsibilities

  • Fluoroscopy privileges and certification
  • Central venous line insertion and management
  • Intra-arterial lines insertion and management
  • Interpret EKGs
  • Interpret holter monitors
  • Cardioversion
  • Use of thrombolytic agents
  • Pericardiocentesis
  • Arterial puncture
  • Temporary trans venous pacemaker placement
  • Intra-aortic balloon pump insertion and management
  • Percutaneous coronary intervention cardiac catheterization and angiography
  • Stress test interpretation
  • Participate in the educational programs for the section personnel as well as the medical staff.
  • Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level.
  • Miscellaneous activities of the Medical Service inclusive, but not limited to special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of Cardiology, Chief of Medicine, Chief of Staff and/or the Charles George VAMC Executive Leadership
  • Attend Cardiology team meetings
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews
  • Attend Medicine Service monthly staff meetings and COS quarterly meetings as per bylaws
  • Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff
  • Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine or his Associate.
  • Participate in, and attend, CME activities and VA continuing educational activities
