The networks of contractual relationships between healthcare businesses and providers, agencies and vendors have become increasingly complex. To keep pace with ever-changing contractual arrangements, many business owners have established the position of insurance contracting to oversee the development and maintenance processes.

  • The insurance contracting specialist main task is to ensure consistent management of all physician/ mid-levels enrollment with insurance companies.
  • Complete applications for each provider and complete/ accurate document management.
  • Oversee organizational/ physician contracting enrollment under our specified insurance contracts.
  • Ensure that records are accurate and kept organized and up to date.
  • Specific paperwork is required for each payer (ie: Blue Cross, Medicare, Blue Shield) all of which must be properly filled out and submitted on as quickly as possible to ensure enrollment dates.- identify issues and contract requirements, and obtain senior management input on timelines and deadlines
  • Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: Physician Insurance Contracting experience preferred, but not required.
  • Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Language/Communication: Possess strong verbal and written skills, and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Interpersonal: The ability to develop good relationships with our payers. Work well with all departments and co-workers.
  • Physician Insurance Contracting experience preferred, but not required.
