Under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical applications, the Physician Informatics Specialist works with and supports physician members to improve provider experience in the effective use and optimization of JMC’s electronic health record system. The Physician Informatics Specialist will possess strong EHR system build knowledge, workflow analysis, analytical/problem solving skills to improve and optimize JMC’s EHR. Must be able to work independently and possess strong organizational skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities. The Physician Informatics Specialist will understand how to perform current state and future state assessments as it relates to clinical workflow within the EHR system. Assist in the development of best practices workflow. Anticipates, identifies, and defines problems- participates in root cause analysis when required. Provide input and participate in design, testing build changes and upgrades. Conduct routine audits and assessments of EHR utilization through direct observation and utilization of data analytic tools. Able to make recommendations to leadership. Conduct ad-hoc training as needed. Build and maintain relationships with medical staff and physician practices. Participate on change advisory board. Participate in on-call rotation. Other duties as assigned.

  • Possess strong EHR system build knowledge and workflow analysis.
  • Conduct current state and future state assessments related to clinical workflow within the EHR system.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years experience in a healthcare setting working with clinicians.
  • Demonstrated understanding in the areas of implementation, training, maintenance and support of an electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical workflows and demonstrated experience translating workflows into EHR build design.
  • Strong hands-on experience training clinicians and physicians.
  • Demonstrated analytical and tactical/execution abilities working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced competencies in applications and technologies typically associated with EHR systems.
  • Experience with Epic preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project, Visio).
