About The Position

In this role, it is necessary to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Hennepin Healthcare seeks an Infectious Disease staff physician (1.0 FTE with excellent benefits). The ID program includes the largest HIV clinic in the upper Midwest (Positive Care Center), with a multidisciplinary care team supported through HRSA-RWCA funding. Additional clinical activities include a robust Travel Medicine program, a viral hepatitis clinic, as well as inpatient infectious disease consultation services. Faculty in the division also support STI and TB public health clinics within the Twin Cities and hold educational leadership positions within the Hennepin Healthcare Internal Medicine residency program and University of Minnesota Medical School. The ID division includes five principal investigators directing research programs focused on HIV, STIs, respiratory infections, and malaria, conducting studies locally and internationally. Finally, ID faculty members at Hennepin Healthcare have an opportunity to pursue academic rank at the University of Minnesota. PLEASE SUBMIT LETTER OF INTEREST ALONG WITH CV

Requirements

  • Current (or eligibility for) license to practice Medicine in the State of Minnesota
  • Successful completion of Internal Medicine Residency Program
  • Successful completion of Infectious Diseases Fellowship
  • BC/BE
  • If Board Eligible, certification must be completed within 4 years of completion of training
  • Demonstrated strong clinical abilities
  • Possess interest, expertise, and commitment in HIV/Infectious Diseases
  • Display effective medical administrative and educational skills

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient Infectious Disease consultations and post-discharge follow-up care as appropriate
  • Outpatient practice involves the care of persons living with HIV, including provision of primary care services. Additional outpatient clinical over time may include management of patients with hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and/or tuberculosis as opportunities arise.
  • Clinical research opportunities exist as either collaboration with established investigators, acting as lead site investigator in clinical studies and/or function as principal investigator and compete for external independent research funding (if candidate desires a primary research career pathway, this should be indicated within the letter of interest).
  • Provide medical care and educate medical students, house staff and ID fellows
