Job Description: The Division of Hospital Medicine at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is a team of over 77 physicians and 29 advanced practitioners dedicated to providing outstanding patient care. As a tertiary care academic medical center, we treat a wide range of patients, including many with highly complex medical conditions. We also have a strong commitment to medical education, hosting many trainees throughout the year. Nocturnist Role Details Schedule: 7 on, 7 off block schedule. Code Response: Nocturnists do not respond to codes; the ICU handles them. Rapid Response: Nocturnists currently lead Rapid Responses with residents. Admissions: Overnight Internal Medicine admissions are handled by residents, with 4-6 staffed by a Nocturnist. Patient Care: Provide direct patient care and supervise Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) for both admissions and cross-coverage. Work Environment: Our division is a collegial group that values and recognizes provider contributions. Candidate Qualifications Education: Strong academic credentials are required, including Residency Training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Qualities: Candidates should be committed to providing exceptional patient care. We're looking for individuals who are hard-working, dependable, collegial, and professional. Retention Incentive After 1 year: 1 shift reduction per month for 1.0 FTE (or equivalent). After 3 years: Additional shift reduction for 1.0 FTE (or equivalent). Clinical Programs & Initiatives We have several exciting programs and initiatives underway, including: Collaborative Unit-Based Care: A model with about 85% geographic cohorting and daily multidisciplinary and transition care rounds across all sites. Co-Management Services: Orthopedic Surgery at LHMC Hematology at LHMC Inpatient Teaching: Rounds with Internal Medicine residents and UMass Chan medical students. Junior Hospitalist rotation for new PGY2 Internal Medicine residents every July and August. Medicine rotation for international medical students at LHMC (approximately 25 students annually).
