About The Position

The Hospitalist provides high-quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based medical care to hospitalized patients. This role includes clinical management of admitted patients at Lehigh Hospital and support of surgical and specialty services through consultative general internal medicine. The Hospitalist is also responsible for coordinating discharge planning and facilitating hand-off to outpatient physicians. Schedule: Block 7 days on / 7 days off Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
Completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Board Certified or Board Eligible (IM or FM)
Active Florida medical license in good standing
DEA license (active or eligible)

Nice To Haves

Experience with EPIC EMR preferred

Responsibilities

Assess, evaluate, and manage patients in the acute care setting
Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations
Diagnose and actively manage patient conditions, including daily inpatient care
Attend multidisciplinary rounds at site
Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting
Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications
Consult with appropriate physicians regarding patient care needs
Refer patients to appropriate sources of care as required
Promote efficient utilization of healthcare resources and support clinical pathway compliance
Ensure appropriate and timely referrals to tertiary care facilities when indicated
Coordinate patient discharge planning and transitions of care
