About The Position

Corewell Health West is seeking a Part Time (0.50 FTE) BC/BE Internal Medicine physician to join their Regional Hospitalist team in Ludington, MI. As part of the Regional Hospitalist team, you will enjoy working a true seven on-seven off schedule, Tuesday through Monday: all day shifts. Two physicians and an Advanced Practice Provider work daily. Procedures preferred but not required, vent management is required. Great virtual support from Grand Rapids Intensivist. This position will work one week per month with a staffing model of two physicians and one APP caring for an average total census of 23 to include up to 6 ICU beds. Nights are covered by a virtual nocturnist and an on-site APP. Some procedures and vent management required; tela-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

Requirements

  • License – Michigan MD/DO
  • BE/BC Internal Medicine Residency or Family Medicine Residency (with demonstrated strong inpatient experience)
  • Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certification - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
  • Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Acts as a patient/family advocate.
  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
