About The Position

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), a member hospital of Dartmouth Health, is seeking a BC/BE Medical Oncologist to join a team of well-established clinicians and support staff. The position offers a four-day schedule, primarily outpatient practice with a 1:4 call structure. The team includes a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist, Radiation Oncologist, Supportive Care Physician, Advanced Practice Nurse, and Oncology Certified Nursing Staff, among others. The facility features a nine-chair infusion suite and a full range of supportive services, including social work, nurse navigation, financial navigation, RN triage, care coordination, clinical research nursing, and a dedicated rehab team. The SVRCC is ACOS Commission on Cancer Accredited and has an active multidisciplinary cancer conference. Requirements

  • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
  • Post graduate training in residency program
  • Medical License in the State of Vermont
  • Board Certified / Board Eligible

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely care of patients.
  • Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
  • Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s).
  • Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s).
  • Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
  • Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies.
  • Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations.
  • Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary.
  • Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable.
  • Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
  • Encourage behavioral change and assist with self-management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice.
  • Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provide patient and family-centered care.
  • Insure the patient's right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
  • Supervise APP's as directed.
  • Participate in continuing medical education (CME).
  • Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
