About The Position

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a General Surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery to join a well-established program. This role involves a mix of bariatric and general surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques. The position offers a collaborative environment with a dedicated team and opportunities for academic involvement through the Columbia-Bassett Medical School.

Requirements

• MD, DO or MBBS degree required.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery.
• New York State Licensure required.
• BLS Certification required.
• DEA Certification required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in minimally invasive surgery techniques.
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR system.

Responsibilities

• Perform 50% bariatric surgery and 50% general surgery with a focus on minimally invasive techniques and endoscopy.
• Participate in 1:4 bariatric call coverage.
• Share general surgery call coverage with 12 other surgeons, approximately 2 weeknights and 1 weekend day per month.
• Utilize a 180 Bed Primary Hospital with a Level III Trauma Center for surgical procedures.
• Leverage an instant referral base provided by over 400 network clinicians.
• Work with a full support staff including PAs, surgical residents, and medical students.
• Engage in a dedicated General Surgery Residency Program.
• Possibility of an academic appointment at Columbia-Bassett Medical School.
• Conduct ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, and clinic opportunities at several regional community hospitals.
• Operate in state-of-the-art ORs, including one devoted to the Xi DaVinci Surgical System.
