About The Position

Fairview is seeking an Acute Care General Surgeon who is a Board Certified/Board Eligible to join our general surgery team located at M Health Fairview St. John’s and Woodwinds Hospitals. The ACS surgeon is responsible for the clinical care of patients in critical care, emergent general surgery and level III and IV trauma. The Acute Care Surgeon will be responsible for the surgical needs of M Health Fairview St. John’s and Woodwinds Hospital, busy community hospitals. This includes cases such as appendicitis, cholecystitis, bowel obstructions, bowel perforations, wounds, and Level III and IV type trauma. Key Position Details: Surgeon will operate at M Health Fairview St. John’s and Woodwinds Hospital ACS service supporting both facilities on any given day Rounding volumes on acute care service 5-15pts/day, 3-5 surgeries/day 190 shifts/year (mix of days, nights & weekends) Day shifts are 10 hours and nights are 14 hours (nights are home call, unless cases need to be performed) Flexibility in scheduling shifts ACS clinic at Maplewood and Woodbury – maximum of 2x per month Competitive salaried position Opportunity for endoscopy Practice Details: Join a team of 8 collegial, dynamic and supportive general surgeons 1.0 FTE Call Frequency: variable call schedule approximately 1:7 Cover night and weekend call on a per FTE basis with other partners You will be supported by a team of excellent Physician Assistants in the office and operating room M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital is a 200-bed facility and M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital is an 86 bed facility. Both sites have dedicated robotic suites and up to date surgical suites. Full-time access to interventional radiology, ERCP, vascular surgical services, colorectal surgery coverage. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited ACGME General Surgery residency program
Board eligible/certified with the American Board of Medical Specialties
Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
ATLS Certification
Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff
Understands and places importance on patient care/service
Detail oriented and self-motivated
Education focused and a creative problem-solver

Formal flexible endoscopy training
