About The Position

This position is for a Doctor of Optometry with responsibilities that include overseeing the Optometry Program, providing direct and comprehensive medical/optometric care to patients, and supervising Optometry staff. The role requires a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited program and a current, unrestricted license to practice optometry. The position is classified under the GS-13 grade level, requiring at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.

Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited program
• Passing score on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examinations
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level
• Demonstrated supervisory abilities and management potential

Responsibilities

• Oversee Optometry Program in its entirety
• Provide direct, comprehensive medical/optometric care to patients
• Supervise Optometry staff by assigning work and evaluating performance
• Interview candidates for positions and ensure staff follow accreditation standards
• Ensure quality of care of the department
• Serve as Optometry and Eye care clinical expert in providing consultation
