About The Position

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport & LSU Health Sciences Center seeks a full-time Forensic Pathologist to join our subspecialized practice at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Department of Pathology and Translational Pathobiology. The faculty position is to serve as a clinical (or higher rank) assistant professor. The faculty will perform forensic medical evaluations and analysis involved with determining the cause, manner and circumstances of death and injuries sustained by deceased persons. Duties include, but are not limited to: performing autopsies and postmortem examinations; performing all dissections of internal organs; interpreting all laboratory, ancillary and consultative reports; developing forensic evidence for use in legal proceedings; testifying and serving as an expert witness in criminal court; rendering the Final Autopsy Report, determining cause and manner of death; advising parish coroners; coordinating work of staff in the absence of the Director of Anatomic and Forensic services; and performing additional duties as required by the Department of Pathology; teaching of medical and allied health students, and pathology residents.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology.
  • Eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license in Louisiana.
  • Completed a Forensic Fellowship.
  • Become subspecialty board certified within 1 year of employment.
