About The Position

Render direct patient care under the supervision of attending physicians and as proscribed in accordance with OIC, JCAHO, medical staff and Institute regulations or requirements.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Degree is required.
  • For Graduates of unaccredited Medical School programs an ECFMG certification is required.
  • Completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency is required.
  • For Graduates of unaccredited Orthopaedic Surgery Residency programs an ECFMG certification is required.
  • Valid California medical license; OR evidence of eligibility and enrollment for post-graduate training license (PTL) issued by the State of California is required.
  • Valid PTL must be obtained from the Medical Board of California (Board) within 180 days of their enrollment to practice medicine pursuant to Business and Professions Code section 2064.5, subdivisions (a) and (e) [http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=2064.5.&lawCode=BPC].
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Administration certificate is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians at surgery.
  • Performing patient orthopedic examinations and treatments in clinic, hospital and emergency room under the supervision of attending physician.
  • Providing consultation to patients either in writing or by telephone.
  • Providing consultation to other health care providers regarding patient care issues.
  • Completing required hospital and Institute medical record documentation regarding patient care.
  • Providing emergency on-call coverage for attending physicians.
  • Assisting attending physicians in pre-operative planning to optimize patient care.
  • Conduct basic science and/or clinical research under the direction of Faculty, Medical Director or Associate Medical Director. Write research papers and abstracts in collaboration with physicians and research scientists and submit to peer reviewed journals. Write papers, abstracts and/or create scientific posters for presentation at orthopaedic meetings and symposia.
  • Perform other clinical and basic science research activities as directed by Medical Director or Associate Medical Director, including joint implant retrieval, literature searches, data compilation, data analysis, slide preparation, histology, particle sizing and analysis, surface analysis and electron microscopy.
