About The Position

This position is for a pharmacist within the Federal system, specifically serving various locations in Arizona and New Mexico. The role requires a doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an equivalent body. Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a relevant jurisdiction. The position is open for applications from February 10, 2025, to January 31, 2026. Candidates must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position, including volunteer work and part-time experience. The hiring manager may consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a relevant program and expected to complete their education within nine months of applying.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by the ACPE.
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Ability to distinguish basic colors.
  • For GS-11 level: Three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent.
  • For GS-12 level: Minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners.
  • Providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects.
  • Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations.
  • Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program.
  • Planning, monitoring, and evaluating medication programs or regimens.
  • Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications.
  • Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Maintaining all medication records required by law.
